Hoang's Posts

Mr. Hoang Mai (Brossard—La Prairie, NDP): Mr. Speaker, I will be sharing my time with the hon. member for Rosemont—La Petite-Patrie.

I rise today to speak to budget 2013. I cannot say it is a pleasure to do so, since the budget is not really going in the right direction. It is my pleasure, however, to report on the concerns of the people in Brossard—La Prairie.

An opportunity to celebrate the wealth of francophone cultures in Quebec, Canada and around the world

LONGUEUIL — New Democrat MPs from the South Shore mark International Day of La Francophonie and joins all Francophones today in celebrating their heritage, culture and language.

“La Francophonie plays an important role internationally, both culturally and politically. In Quebec, in Acadian communities, and in many communities throughout the country, French is synonymous with pride and identity. March 20 is the perfect day to recognize this,” said the MPs.

Better transit builds better communities.

It eases gridlock and shortens commutes.
It reduces air pollution and smog.
It strengthens our whole economy.

What’s not to love?

Year after year, Canadian transit ridership breaks new records, but our cities can’t keep up. After years of federal downloading, many are struggling to maintain even today’s transit systems.

Mr. Hoang Mai (Brossard—La Prairie, NDP):  Mr. Speaker, I rise today in the House to speak about Bill C-55, An Act to amend the Criminal Code, the government's response to the Supreme Court’s decision in R. v. Tse.

South Shore finished first in 2013 Quebec Games

LONGUEUIL — It was with great pride that South Shore New Democrat MPs welcomed the news of the South Shore’s first place in the 48th Finale of the Quebec Games in Saguenay. Our athletes won 67 medals, beating Montreal and the National Capital Region.

“It’s wonderful news for our young athletes in the region, and motivation for volunteers to take part in the 49th Finale of the Quebec Games here in Longueuil in the summer of 2014,” said the MPs.
